AFTER THE END
Grip of deceit
Liked itcall, so sorry for all the people devasted by the tragedy.written well and glad to be able to continue.
couldn’t put it down
Love the characters and storyline. Two deeply damaged people just trying to find peace, end up, finding each other. Well written. Can’t wait to start book two.
My Musings
Great start to what should be an exciting series. I look forward to reading the next book. Great pacing and a good mix of emotion with the action. Sometimes, this genre is a tad short on emotional writing. A happy reader!
Great opening book in the series
I enjoyed the first book in the series , the characters are developing well and I look forward to moving onto the next book.
How she escaped
I thought this book was really good can't wait to read the next book to find out what happened to Pat and Holly!
Sam writes with heart!
So, I have read End of Days, looked at other reviews and have to say, some readers are too critical. But that is the age of social media I guess. Sam has done a wonderful job of creating storylines and characters. I have read some dystopian series thst are more detailed but at the end of the day, this series has kept me engaged. Keep up the good work Sam!
5.0 out of 5 stars A gripping thriller of a read
Quite often a second book in a series I have found is never as good as the first, but this story was breath holding and tongue biting as the first book. Will Patrick ever get to his children, or Holly get away from the evil nurse that is chasing her. I wanted to jump in the book and help them. There's a bond building between them, Patrick will not leave Holly and Holly does not trust anyone. This is a great series of books to read.
can't wait till book 4
it took little while to get through the characters in the beginning. these main characters where more definitely complicated and unique to any I have read about in other apocalypse books but all that I can say is I am looking forward to January's release of number 4. as far as the one review being critical of certain location facts please remember it is a fictional work and pay the review no mind. thank you for the work you have put into the series mary
Great Story
Great story, great characters! Looking forward to the next book in the series! No disturbing language or sexual content. Thank you for a fine and interesting story!
Great reading!
Really enjoying this third book in this series. The story of Pat and Holly continues to grow and keeps you riveted in their journey. Well done Ms Fires, great story, great characters, I cannot wait to see what else is going to happen.

END OF DAYS
Interesting
Entertaining story with odd characters who stumble through the apocalypse. Throw in a stalker, makes traveling to Granny’s a bit of a hassle for sure.
A really good way to start a series
The author started out with a lot of other things to make this story believable. Once you start reading you don't want to quit. This survival series is top notch and I will be! Looking for more of his stories.
5.0 out of 5 stars Grip of fear
Really enjoyed this first book, looking forward to were it might go , going to carry on reading.will keep leaving reviews it's important you know your writing is appreciated.
A great series
The "Grip" series of books is a well written story with interesting, well fleshed out characters. Pretty realistic too and a good read for anyone interested in post EMP books.
A beginning in a new and dangerous world.
I really liked this book so far.The main two people have been introduced and are likeable, have skills to survive in this new world. Each will need to learn from the other.
good story
This is a good, easy read.the characters are likeable and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Totally gripping
I was so absorbed in this book i lost track of time. I love the underdog hero and the post apocalyptic genre. It’s always great when I run across an author I haven’t read before. It’s a real treat.
5 stars
Grip of Fear : A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (End of Days Book 1), my second read from author Sam J. Fires . A well-written, entertaining read, continues seamlessly from the the end of Surviving Chaos, with well-developed characters that I read in a single setting, 121-pages in length. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book back in April and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. Next up Grip of Darkness : A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (End of Days Book 2). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Good
Entertaining first book in the series. Characters are interesting. Well written. Fun reading. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Just the beginning. Another great story by the author. Can't wait to read the next part of the story and see what happens with Cass.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!!
Great reading!!! Lots of action and emotion! A great read. Can't wait to read the follow-up books!!! Outstanding author!!! Superb!!!!!!!
Good story and good writing
I read a lot of post EMP fiction, and this book is one of the few that I'm taking time to review. It's actually well written - not just good grammar and punctuation, but a style that draws you into the story rather than drawing attention to itself. My only criticism is that it seemed a little short, but that only left me wanting to read the next one!
An large power outage
All of a sudden Portland suffers a power outage with planes falling out of the sky and cars stop working. Case decides to leave the city amongst a raging ice storm and with her dog Daisy heads to her grandma’s. She teams up with a former Marine and is stalked by an ex.
The peepers may have gotten it right, the end is near!
Power blackout, phones and cars not working and the damage appears to be statewide. Oregon is in trouble and one small town is already divided by the locals who have lived there for generations and the newcomers and tourists now isolated in the town. Selfish personalities are also striving for control and trying to gain power in the chaos.
another wintry snow setting.
Not much of interest in this story. Too early for the death and destruction that normally comes after day three without power.
Great read
I liked how the main character was able to take care of herself and make her way out of the city, plus taking her friends dog which was left behind !
A good story
The only sad thing about this series, is that they are kind of short. Characters popping up everywhere. I just wished that the books didn't end so quickly.
Grip
Of Darkness: End of Days Book 2 I’m loving the new characters in this book. I’m excited to learn more about them. Can’t wait to read the next book.
the next step in an apocalypse
For a while I felt this book was slow but as I read it felt more like laying the groundwork for the end of days (no pun intended). The characters are starting to show their colours. The world as they know it is changing. And I bet mayhem is coming.
Easy and interesting
A mostly believable scenario. If you're looking for a damaged pair of protagonists whose past lives prepared them for disaster this is a well written easy read.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Addition to Series
Brilliant addition to the series. We are really starting to get to know Isaac and Cass now as they continue their dangerous trek with ever faithful Daisy at their side. It has been a real pleasure to see both characters letting their guard down with each other. Sam has produced a beautifully written book that both keeps us on the edge of our seats due to the continuing danger of crazed Nathan stalking Isaac and Cass and yet makes us smile at the description of Daisy playing in the snow trying to catch snowflakes!! I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
Great read
I could not put it down. Really enjoying reading the series. Very realistic in how unrest would unfold after losing power.
Grip of death
Really enjoyed this d eries so far! Looking forward to the next volume and to more to come! Thank you
Great storyline
I found this story to be very interesting to read. A small town after a major power outage. I wonder if what would be any better prepared.
Very well written
This book is an eye opener on what can happen when a small town has people turn on each other. My grandma not only feed her family of 8 during the depression of the last century but shared food with others. It was known by the rail hobos that she would provide food , she also helped neighbors. That to me was the important point of the story.
Short, but exciting...
I'm hoping to see a little more of Cass in the next book. This is a cruel world when you have worked hard and made sacrifices in order to be prepared for hard times and people think that they have a right to your hard earned supplies. Hmmm...sounds kinda familiar.
madness
Another good read. And like someone else said , it's so nice to get the different perspective, with the sisters
action and suspense
I’m really enjoying this series-I can’t wait for the next book- There’s several storylines and I really like the characters- I like that there’s very little profanity and no steamy sex scenes-
Lovely little town of Meadowview.
Small town hospitality, wrong side of town, tourists and locals, religious superiority, mixed together with just a pinch of prejudice makes for an interesting interaction. Forget everything you have heard of small town kindness and hospitality. These folks missed the memo. Cathy M
5.0 out of 5 stars can't wait for the rest of the story.
The two previously separate storylines are bought together well in this instalment. Well written as usual, and can't wait for the rest of the story.
Wow!!! Exciting Post-Apocalyptic book!!
Excellent writing, well developed characters and believable storyline!! A great addition to the Post Apocalyptic genre!!! I highly recommend reading the other books in the series first… they are all wonderful!!!
Interesting read
I enjoyed reading the trials and tribulations of this small town. I look forward to the next installment in this series.
5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping Read
Great read . Roller coaster ride that has you gripping the edge of your seat. Definitely recommend that you read this series.
Another cliffhanger in the series.
Another cliffhanger in the series. A good read as part of a larger story. I am enjoying the storyline and the characters. There do seem to be a few sons running around. But looking forward to what happens next.
good!!
What a surprise!! Good book! Looking forward to the next one! I’m a little worried about who is all related. You need a blood test in this town!
5.0 out of 5 stars Murder and Mayhem
Murder and mayhem with plenty of action, doubt and challenges as the town are once again thrown into chaos. A good, well written page-turner. I received a complimentary copy and voluntarily leave an honest review.
5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book
Another great book, full of action. Can't wait for the final instalment to see which way the story will go.
Another must read
Sam is really turning the intensity up as this series goes. So many unexpected twists and turns in this one. A+ book from an A+ writer. Definitely a must read.
5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading. I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
5.0 out of 5 stars Another amazing instalment in this series
I loved this book as I have every other in the series. How does society especially a close community cope with the loss of power and how do people adapt? Things get very dark for many of them with some losing their lives. This book answered a lot of questions from the series. Definitely worth reading.
5.0 out of 5 stars Another great instalment which answers some questions even as it raises others.
One of my main preoccupations throughout this series has been to wonder what would happen if the power came back on rather than what will happen should the power be off forever. How can life ever be the same again either for the community or the individuals who make up that community? People have done things while the power has been off that they would never have done otherwise. Will there be a price to pay if and when the power comes back on and law and order is restored with it? I’m afraid that we will have to wait for the final instalment to find out but meanwhile, sit back and relax, enjoy the story with all its twists and turns and let tomorrow take care of itself!
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read, and epic series
This is the penultimate book in this series and the suspense is defiantly building. The character and story development is brilliant. Can't wait to see how the series ends,
5.0 out of 5 stars Another page-turner.
Grip of Evil is the sixth book in The End of Days series and it's an outstanding read. I had to take my eyes off the book for a few seconds to take a breather because I was reading it too quickly. Each new addition to the series has been better than it's predecessor and that's not to say the other books are disappointing it's more that the author had upped his game and taken it to the next level. An absolute must read.
Great series!
I loved this series! The characters and storyline suck you in and are very believable. I am really looking forward to the next books to see how they continue to survive.
Great wrapup but what's next!
Fantastic story and can't wait for a continuation. Author did a wonderful job tying the characters though a dynamic story with tons of action!
5.0 out of 5 stars Grip of Honour - a review by Rosemary Kenny i
End of Days Book 7 is Sam J. Fires' series finale, Grip of Honour. Sisters Charlie and Cass Drewer are central to the action, throughout this thrilling dystopian future vision of a world gone mad, following the destruction of power sources by Howard - a Manson-like, megalomaniacal, self-proclaimed neo-Messiah - and his brainwashed followers. Merciless death, destruction and perverse, ritualistic behaviour follow in his footsteps, as he orders the destruction of a stockpile of supplies, (and the minister distributing them) at a local Meadowview church, before moving their murderous attention to the hospital. Shocking, riveting, attention-grabbing and ultimately heart-warming, get your copy of Grip of Honour today...and buckle up for a wild ride! Recommended to fans of Michael Anderle, Craig Martelle and Tara Ellis.
wow!
Read all the books available so far in the series and loved them! Since I’m from Portland I loved that the story was based out of there and around Bend. Can’t wait for more!
Great Series
Well worth the read. Enough action and personal interest aspects to create an enjoyable, exciting story.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great Ending to an Enjoyable Series
I’d waited over four weeks for this last book of the series to come out and finally downloaded with it anticipation. I devoured and enjoyed every word. It continued the story of sisters Cass and Charlie, and the town of Meadowview and its citizens. Cass had arrived with Isaac and being an a ex-marine, he now joined up with Jonas, the Police Chief’s son to help track down Howard, the cult leader, who had been causing havoc in the town. I liked the character of Jonas even though we’d had mixed messages about him throughout the series. It was never totally clear whether he was a misunderstood good guy or not. In this last book, I liked him all the more. What I didn’t like much was that Charlie ended up with someone who wasn’t even a main character.. The climax to the story was exciting as they eventually located cult leader, Howard. What they discovered was truly chilling and it’s frightening how humanity can turn on itself like that. What I wasn’t too keen on was what happened after the ending. I was satisfied when I finished the book. The bad guy got rid of, the town leaders reconciled, and it seemed a perfect ending. Except, the author added an end note of unanswered questions, like Why did the power go out? I’d accepted that it had, and now my need to know along with the answer to other questions posed, was overwhelming. Next year, the author said, a new series is coming out amd will address that. But I need to know now! Overall, it’s an excellent series and I highly recommend it to both post-apocalyptic, and novella lovers. I will give this book four stars as opposed to five, simply because of Jonas, and the spoiler, or teaser, depending on which way you look at it, at the end.
Another great series from Sam J Fires
Always an entertaining writer this series has both strong female and male heroes worthy of our interest. Interesting plots and critical views of various townsfolk add color and flavour to the readings. Well worth the prices and effort of reading and missing a few hours of sleep.
End of the Journey or the Start of?
Grip of Honor, the final installment in Sam J Fire's Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller series, is a gathering in of the people who have struggled so hard to survive, a turning point for the town of Meadowview, Oregon and a surprise ending. At the open of the story, Jonas, Isaac, Cass and Charlie are watching in disbelief at the explosion and fire of the town church, where the last of their supplies had been stored. Harper, the dedicated nurse, shrieks in horror, guiding Jonas and Isaac's attention to a bloody hand in the wreckage. Despite the hope shared by the group, there aren't any survivors nor is there evidence that Howard, the terrorist who has perpetrated all of this violence upon Meadowview, has been killed. Despaired and defeated, the tensions between Jonas and his Militia and Isaac, are at an all-time high as the townspeople try to figure out how to survive and defend themselves against further harm from Howard. Cass and Charlie begin to break down the barriers blocking their sisterhood. Each of them goes to see their prepper parents to ask for help, to no avail. Harper and Javier are growing closer although Harper is chaffing under Javier's overprotectiveness. A plan is implemented to search the nearby rental properties for supplies. When Cass and Charlie go together to look, Charlie is captured by Howard's henchmen and Cass barely escapes to get back to warn everyone of Howard's plan and to organize a rescue for Charlie. Meadowview's continuation hangs in the balance as does Charlie's life. How will the saga of our troop of friends end? Will they finally get rid of Howard? Who will run Meadowview? Will the power come back on? What horrors face our beloved characters? You must finish the series to find these answers. And, since you've come this far (and loved every minute of it), you know you will. What an excellent read this has been, I'm going to miss Meadowview and the plucky people who have made it their home.
Great ending
As with all the other entries in this series, I found myself on the edge of seat throughout. Well done.

Well done.
Teaser
